Players begin by constructing a ship from logs, sails, and gun emplacements; they can later buy or remodel their ship if desired. A higher level of cannon proficiency gives a ship a larger set of guns that are faster to shoot. Ships can be sold or bought for money, and a player can also buy cannons. There are a variety of other amenities, such as a cook, a crafter, and a doctor, and players can hire other players to handle many of the tasks on their ship. Pirates can also buy and modify their own specialized equipment such as onboard cannons, boarding boats, and explosive barrels.
These are the basic stats of one of the two fleets of ships that players can occupy in Puzzle Pirates. Ships are not autonomous, as they can be damaged and crewed out. The Pirate Isle, which is the external world for the game world, is the only place where players can build land, sell goods, and interact with other players. However, players can traverse the sea and visit the Isle at any time, landing over a large reef to avoid pirate attacks. The Isle also stores and tracks pre-existing logs, sail, and cannon stats of a player's ship that it can apply to a new ship being asked to help sail, as well as new cannons being asked for.
Briefly, pirates in Puzzle Pirates can complete three types of jobs: gunnery, crafting, and salvage.* Gunnery is the job of a gunner, which is represented in the game as cannon firing. A gunner stands on the gun site at the front of the ship and fires cannons, reloading and training them as necessary.
Depending on player equipment, guns on Puzzle Pirates can be rated as low, intermediate, or grand gunnery. High-rated guns are more powerful, but they also take longer to reload. An intermediate gunner needs to achieve a certain amount of cannon fire to be promoted to a higher gunnery level. Similarly, crafting jobs can be rated as low, intermediate, and grand. Intermediate crafting levels are needed to promote to a higher level of crafting. d2c66b5586
