The License manager is backward compatible, meaning that it is possible to have a license server that is 2020 and a SOLIDWORKS that is 2019, but not the other way around. This is also applicable to other SOLIDWORKS products using a license manager.
Over time computer hardware gets old, and as a result it needs to be replaced. Although new gear can be exciting, it comes with the hassle of transferring your software. When we change the hardware running SOLIDWORKS, be it a client with a stand-alone license or a server running the SolidNetWork License Manager, it will require us to deactivate the serial number used for the installation.
First, you need to transfer your SOLIDWORKS license back to the SOLIDWORKS Activation Server. To do this open SOLIDWORKS and go to the SOLIDWORKS Help menu and click Transfer Licenses as Show in Image.
SOLIDWORKS CAM Standard (And some other products as well) is included with SOLDIWORKS CAD licenses on active subscription. If companies do not renew subscription for their licenses, they will lose access to these products. This error is usually caused by one of two things:
With standalone licenses, it is possible to install SOLIDWORKS on more than one PC with a single license, but SOLIDWORKS can only be activated on a single machine per license. This means if you are planning to use SOLIDWORKS on two different computers (such as a work and home PC), you will need to go through the license transfer process each time you want to switch between them.
This involves accessing the Help Menu and choosing to Deactivate Licenses on the PC currently hosting the license, and then Activating on the new PC. There is no limit to the number of times a license can be transferred, but if you are planning on switching computers frequently, you may want to consider network licensing.
Network licensing is typically the best option for medium to large organizations. It allows establishing a license server which hosts the SOLIDWORKS licenses. Any client PC that can ping the network license server will then be able to access a license of SOLIDWORKS, or associated products.
As users load up SOLIDWORKS products, the appropriate licenses are checked out from the license pool. When a user closes SOLIDWORKS or unloads an add-in such as SOLIDWORKS Simulation, the license is automatically returned to the pool. This makes for very efficient utilization of SOLIDWORKS licenses as you only need as many licenses as you have concurrent users.
The design of the specimens used in the study was done with SOLIDWORKS® Research Edition 2019 software (Dassault Systèmes, Vélizy-Villacoublay, France) and the models were filleted with Slic3r software (GNU Affero General Public License) . Subsequently, they were manufactured in the domestic 3D printer, Pyramid 3Dstudio XL Single Extruder. Their geometry is shown in Figure 2, with dimensions according to the standard that governs the bending test. All manufactured specimens were submitted to a quality control, in which they were weighed and measured with a calliper. Therefore, they had to be validated before testing from a dimensional and constructive point of view. The resulting lengths, widths, and weights were statistically processed, and those specimens whose descriptors were out of the ±2% were considered not to comply and were immediately discarded.
Of all parameters, the lack of influence of infill density deserves a special mention. This observation has already been made by other authors, such as Admed & Susmel (2019) and Andrzejewska et al. (2017) . These authors explain that the mechanical properties of PLA specimens with a 100% infill density depend on three main aspects, namely, the mechanical properties of filaments, the bonding forces between layers, and bonding forces between filaments of the same layer. Decreasing the infill density derives in the loss of bonding strength between filaments of the same layer, regardless of the distance between filaments in the same layer, which is the direct effect of infill density reduction. That is, the effect of changing infill density is more conspicuous when reducing from 100% to any other value, hence the lack of relevance of decreasing it from 75% to 25%. Furthermore, we could add a second fact explaining the lack of influence of infill density on the results, which could be related to the fact that bending specimens are of reduced dimensions, meaning that their mechanical behaviour is governed by their skin and, to a much lesser extent, the infill, which is only comprised by a few layers. 2b1af7f3a8
